Adam Sandler sends a surprise video to Derrick Henry after their 2,000-yard movie bet—NFL fans can't stop talking about a possible Derrick Henry movie starring alongside the comedy legend (Credit: Tony Fisher)
In what could become one of the wildest crossovers between the NFL and Hollywood, a Derrick Henry movie might be in the works.
However, there’s a twist: Derrick Henry will only be cast in a movie if the Baltimore Ravens star achieves an incredible milestone.
It all started with a fun, unexpected moment on “The Dan Patrick Show”. Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry, who’s a massive fan of Sandler’s work, was joking around when the conversation took a wild turn. Dan Patrick offered a challenge: if Henry rushes for 2,000 yards in the 2025 NFL season, he’d personally get him into a movie with Adam Sandler.
Sandler recorded a special video message for Henry that was played during Ravens practice. And it was classic Adam Sandler:
“Yo, Derrick, I just woke up… that’s why I look disgusting—on top of the fact that I am disgusting,” he joked. “But I love ya. If you hit 2,000 yards, not only are you in a movie, but we’ll also have a nice dinner and talk trash about Dan Patrick’s beard.”
Henry didn’t even blink or give it a second thought. “Bet,” essentially. The challenge was on. Patrick then reached out to his buddy Sandler, and the comedy legend responded in the best way possible.
Henry, clearly pumped up by the Hollywood hype, shot back on social media:
“Dan you’re a real one! Adam Sandler is da (GOAT)!! I appreciate the extra motivation!”
Talk about a plot twist! Could the Derrick Henry movie feature the comedy king himself? Fans are buzzing!
This isn’t just a fun moment—it seems to be personal for Henry. Last season, he came just 79 yards short of hitting that 2,000-yard mark, finishing with 1,921 yards in his first season with the Ravens. That was this close to making history. If he pulls it off in 2025, not only will he likely go down as one of the greatest to ever do it—he’ll be the first running back to hit 2,000 yards twice—but he might just get a role in a Derrick Henry movie too.
“People talk about age, but I just focus on being consistent and outworking everybody,” Henry said. “I love football. I want to be great—and help the Ravens win.”
Well, nothing is official yet—but if Henry reaches that 2,000-yard mark, all signs point to “lights, camera, action!” Sandler seems serious, the fans are hyped, and Henry looks more determined than ever.
Will 2025 bring us NFL history and a movie starring Derrick Henry? If he stays healthy and locked in, we might just see #22 rush from the field to the big screen. If Henry smashes through that barrier again in Baltimore? He instantly becomes the ONLY player EVER to achieve this Herculean feat twice. That’s not just MVP-worthy; that’s Derrick Henry movie biopic material!
Fueling this potential blockbuster season? Henry’s fresh two-year, $30 million deal with the Ravens and his defiant confidence. Despite being one of the league’s veteran backs, “King Henry” scoffs at age concerns. He’s locked, loaded, and laser-focused on making history – and maybe starring in the most epic Derrick Henry movie football has ever seen.
Will he hit 2K and earn his close-up? The entire NFL is watching!
